Stretching, Mobility, and Flexibility

To start, let’s define some terms

Before we dive in, it’s worth defining a few terms that often get lumped together. People frequently use flexibility and mobility interchangeably with each other, but they’re not exactly the same thing.

Flexibility generally refers to the amount of passive range of motion available at a joint or muscle. Mobility, on the other hand, is your ability to actively control and use that range of motion.

While these concepts overlap, the distinction matters — because having access to a range and being able to confidently control it are often two very different things; especially in rehab.
